Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Iqbal Ghanim, Head of the Nursing Department, the Community Health Branch of the Nursing Department at Baghdad College of Medical Sciences organized a scientific visit for fourth-year students to Ibn Al-Quff Hospital for Spinal Cord Injuries, accompanied by the supervising teaching staff, as part of the series “A Day in the Life of a Nursing Student”.
The visit included a scientific lecture delivered by university nurse Rehab Mohammed Mohsen on spinal cord injuries from a community health perspective: their causes, prevention, and the role of the community health nurse in caring for and rehabilitating injured patients. This was followed by a field tour of the hospital wards and the physiotherapy unit, a review of nursing records, and discussion with the nursing staff.
Field training in healthcare institutions is an essential part of preparing nursing students at the College, linking what they learn in the classroom with real-world health practice.
