Midwifery Department
The Department of Midwifery was established at Baghdad College of Medical Sciences in the academic year 2025–2026 in response to the urgent need to prepare scientifically and practically qualified midwives in midwifery and obstetrics, with the aim of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
The department is capable of providing comprehensive preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare to mothers, children, families, and the community. It also aims to improve the health status of women of reproductive age and beyond and to develop the healthcare services provided to women before marriage, during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as to newborns.
This is achieved through academic programs that align with the mission of Baghdad College of Medical Sciences to prepare qualified healthcare professionals capable of providing high-quality health services.

In response to the urgent need to prepare scientifically and practically qualified midwives to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates, and to provide comprehensive healthcare—preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative—for mothers, children, and families, in alignment with the college’s mission to prepare highly competent healthcare professionals.
