Nursing Department

The Nursing Department was established to meet the growing demand for qualified nurses. It prepares students with the knowledge and skills to provide preventive and curative care in Iraq and abroad. The program combines theoretical study with clinical training in hospitals and medical centers, giving students a balanced education for the healthcare job market.

Head of the Nursing Department's Message

The Nursing Department at Baghdad College of Medical Sciences has grown and made remarkable progress since its establishment in the academic year 2018–2019, achieving its academic, research, and institutional objectives. It is an active partner in Iraqi society and has become one of the leading colleges in the Baghdad region.

The Department of Nursing aims to contribute to preparing qualified nursing personnel capable of providing nursing and medical assistance within health institutions, in line with international standards of knowledge and performance, to serve the community and to assume responsibility for patient care.

The quality of nursing education is ensured through the evaluation of the National Council for Accreditation of Nursing Colleges (NCANC), which has been authorized by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority (ASSE) to realize the Department's vision through excellence and accreditation, pursuant to Administrative Order No. (C/1/277) dated March 8, 2022, concerning the preparation of accreditation standards and their accompanying guide.

The aim is to establish a suitable educational environment that is amenable to continuous development, to build students' skills and knowledge, and to operate at a high level of professionalism, equipping students with the professional capabilities that qualify them to provide high-quality nursing services that meet the needs of society.

The Nursing program undergoes annual review and evaluation through internal or external audit procedures, the main aim of which is to build, develop, and refine the skills of graduating students to be ready for the job market in line with advanced medical technology.
