His story in his own words
His journey in one sentence: “Life after graduation is tough, there is no planned line for you, you choose your own path.”
“After graduating as one of the top 3 of my class, I thought this would pave the way for an easy life after graduation. That assumption was not correct. I faced countless difficulties after graduation. I worked in multiple places where I felt I was not compensated enough compared to my peers who were less academically successful than me, and spent countless hours working in healthcare in both community and hospital pharmacies. I was away from academia for 4 years, but then I decided to pursue graduate study in the UK and managed to get an extremely good position in Iraq after I came back. It felt like all of these years of hard work had paid off.”
Pharmacist Omar Wisam Al-Ani’s advice to today’s students
“Follow your passion. Don’t be intimidated to walk a different path than your peers.”
