The department reports to the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs and is responsible for managing human resources and providing an appropriate administrative environment to support the college’s operations. It carries out multiple tasks related to professors, staff, and personnel. The department is responsible for issuing appointment orders for all categories of employees, managing their leaves, following up on training and skills development, handling official correspondence with government bodies, and preparing timely responses and clarifications. It coordinates with other administrative departments to ensure efficient workflow. Among its tasks are supporting academic and administrative activities in the institution and achieving the college’s objectives by managing resources efficiently while ensuring transparency in administrative operations. The department is also responsible for the security and preservation of personnel files, maintaining their rights and benefits, and processing administrative transactions such as appointments, promotions, bonuses, resignations, leaves, and disciplinary actions. It oversees all service and maintenance work to ensure that the college maintains a distinguished appearance worthy of this esteemed academic institution.

I am pleased to welcome all faculty members, students, graduates, and staff of Baghdad College of Medical Sciences, as well as visitors to the college’s official website.
The college was established in Baghdad in (2000) by the Pharmacists Syndicate under the name “(Baghdad College of Pharmacy).”
At its establishment, the college included the Department of Pharmacy with three branches: Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmacognosy, and Therapeutics & Clinical Pharmacy.
The first class graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy in (2005).
And in the year (2017 AD), the Nursing Department was opened, and thus the College began granting a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

In line with its vision, the college strives to provide accredited academic programs aimed at improving the quality of educational outcomes to become a competitive college at both governmental and private levels through its persistent efforts to obtain programmatic accreditation leading to international academic accreditation. The college seeks to use the best methods of medical education with a number of distinguished professors in all different specializations, in addition to a distinguished technical and administrative team who all participate in managing the academic and administrative process and all developmental tasks that seek to achieve the college’s vision and mission for a bright future for the college’s students and graduates. The college also seeks to spread and promote the culture of scientific research, innovation, and creativity, and encourage the teaching staff to contribute to knowledge production in a way that ensures graduating trained personnel capable of innovation and achieving leadership in their fields of specialization, and enhancing multiple opportunities and activities for them for training and learning about mechanisms and developments in dealing with the job market. The college works on updating its programs to achieve learning outcomes and outputs that keep pace with what is new in the world and the job market. The college has effectively contributed to meeting the needs of society through its governmental and private institutions, and the college has also graduated competent pharmacists who work in their field of specialization in many advanced countries after equivalency of their certificates, which indicates the quality of education in our college. We are awaiting the graduation of the first batch in nursing specialization this year (2022), and we hope that the graduates of this college in nursing specialization (Bachelor of Nursing) will contribute to meeting the needs of society and related parties with the same dedication and determination as the college graduates in pharmacy specialization (Bachelor of Pharmacy). College Location and Development Stages
At the beginning of its establishment, the college occupied a temporary building attached to the Nursing Institute in the Bab Al-Muadham area near the College of Medicine – University of Baghdad. The first batch of graduates from the college received their Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree in 2005. In 2006, the college moved to its current location, which is the building previously occupied by the Ministry of Religious Endowments.
Establishment of the Nursing Department
On 10/10/2018, the college obtained approval from His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education to establish a morning study department in nursing specialization for Baghdad Governorate, starting from the academic year 2018-2019, according to the Ministry’s letter numbered (T H/Aq/17719) dated 15/10/2018. This establishment aims to contribute to preparing qualified nursing personnel capable of providing medical assistance within health institutions, in line with international standards of knowledge and performance to serve the community, and bearing responsibility in caring for patients and those in need of healthcare services. Accordingly, the official name of the college was updated to become “Baghdad College of Medical Sciences”. The college is distinguished by containing the latest scientific laboratories relied upon by researchers and graduate students from various other colleges. The college also includes a library containing the latest scientific books, in addition to units dedicated to internet, sports, and others.
Curricula and Academic Accreditation
Since the establishment of Baghdad College of Medical Sciences, the college has adopted the curricula and scientific syllabi approved by official universities. The certificates and academic degrees granted by the college are also subject to the certificate and academic degree evaluation system approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Ministry also supervises the college’s activities through minutes of college council meetings and annual reports addressing its academic and financial status.

The college is distinguished by containing the latest scientific laboratories relied upon by researchers and graduate students from various other colleges. The college also includes a library containing the latest scientific books, in addition to units dedicated to internet, sports, and others.
New Campus Project
In its endeavor to enhance the quality of education and for the comfort of its dear students, and to expand admission seats after opening the nursing department, the college began work on building a new campus consisting of six floors. This project will contain spacious halls and modern laboratories equipped with the latest laboratory equipment, in addition to a basement used as a car garage with its modern engineering design. The campus will also include a large club for student comfort and a library equipped with the latest scientific books. Work on this project is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year.
