The Baghdad College of Medical Sciences (formerly the Baghdad College of Pharmacy) includes in its current structure the Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Nursing. The college was established in Baghdad in 2000 by the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, which at its first establishment included only one department, which was the Pharmacy Department. The college aims to prepare pharmacists who are available in Scientific and technical competence to carry out pharmaceutical services and chemical analysis in Iraq. The approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish the college was issued on September 14, 2000 in accordance with the provisions of Article (38) of the Universities and Private Colleges Law No. 13 of 1996, as amended by Law No. (57) of 2002. The college was occupying a temporary building attached to the nursing home in the Bab al-Muadham area near the College of Medicine – University of Baghdad. The first class graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree in 2005. In 2006, the college was moved to its current location, which is the former Ministry of Endowments building. On 10/10/2018, the college obtained the approval of His Excellency the Honorable Minister to establish a department for morning studies – nursing in the college in the college in Baghdad Governorate for the academic year 2018-2019, according to the Ministry’s letter numbered T/AK/17719 and dated 10/15/2018, in an effort to contribute. From the beginning of its establishment, the college adopted the prescribed curricula, vocabulary, and study subjects approved by official universities. The certificates and academic degrees granted by the college are subject to the rules for evaluating certificates and academic degrees approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
